A Salt Lake teenager is missing: Seventeen-year-old, Cassie Hughes, who was last seen Friday afternoon.
The last time Terrie Rodriguez saw Cassie was when she dropped her off at school on Friday. It especially hit hard this morning, she said, She’s got school; that’s when it really hit this morning she’s not here.
Adding to the anguish; a discovery on the internet. Cassie deleted an on-line journal the night before she vanished. It was also the last time Cassie logged on to the popular web site “MySpace.com.”
Rodriguez says it’s out of character for her daughter not to leave a note or show up for scheduled work. “She cares very much about her job; they made her an assistant manager,” said Rodriguez.
Cassie’s parents learned today that witnesses saw the teen Friday afternoon at a McDonald’s on North Temple near 10th West. Eighty dollars was withdrawn from her account from an ATM inside. She was also seen at her work not far from the McDonald’s, but several days since, no ATM activity and no word from Cassie.
The Rodriguez’s say even her school friends haven’t heard from their daughter.
Stepfather, Angel Rodriguez said, “I’m just afraid that something has happened… I hope nothing has happened, but those are my feelings, that’s what I think.”
The Rodriguez’s say none of Cassie’s belongings are missing except for the book bag she brought to school. Even medication was left behind.
They fear a possible sexual predator from the internet may have enticed their daughter to meet with him.
The Rodriguez’s have filed a missing persons report with the Salt Lake Police Department. If you have any information on her whereabouts, you’re asked to call the police.
My thought and prayers are with the Hughes family that she’ll be found unharmed.
