MySpace threat made against Oregon teacher

by Trench on April 14th, 2006

Teen Arrested After MySpace Threat To Math Teacher:
Another day, another MySpace threat. This time in Oregon…

A 17-year-old Alsea High School student has been arrested after he posted a message on the Internet threatening a math teacher.
Benton County Sheriff’s Office officials say the student is a senior.

Deputies say the teen made the threat, including the teacher’s name, on MySpace. A sheriff’s office report says the teacher feared for his life after learning of the posting.

The boy was initially taken to the Linn-Benton Juvenile Facility but was later released.

Alsea school district officials have unofficially suspended him pending a psychological evaluation.

Undersheriff Diana Simpson says it’s still unclear what motivated the student to post the message on the Internet.

The threat must have been pretty bad if the teacher “feared for his life”. Then again it how bad could it have been if the suspect was released? Maybe the teacher is overdramatic. Either way threatening someone is still against the law.

i think that we should get rid of my space because its just killing people. Why would anyone want a site that their nit even sure whos on there talking with them. Well so we need to all come together n get rid of this stupied thing called “my space” because to tell you the truth its not just their space. Everyone who gets on there name, it becomes their space to because they find out everything bout them. So thats what we all should do. Bye!!!! But i need help before one of my kids get hurt. N maybe next time, the kid that dies or gets hurt, it could be yours. :-( :’(

Ashley, if it wasn’t MySpace it would be something else. These kind of crimes have been going on since the first days of the internet. It used to be AOL then Yahoo chat rooms and now it just happens to be MySpace.
