Miss. Xanga Threat

by Trench on April 22nd, 2006

Pearl Students Accused Of Internet Threat:

PEARL, Miss. — A threat made on a popular teen Web site has resulted in the arrest of two Pearl Junior High School students.

Pearl Police Chief Bill Slade said the students created a page on the Xanga Web site using Luke Woodham’s name.

The student who received the threat on the Xanga message board said it told students not to go to school on May 1.

Luke Woodham is serving a life sentence for killing his mother and for a shooting rampage at Pearl High School that left two people dead.

The 1997 fatal shooting devastated the community. So, Slade said he didnt take the threat lightly.

The student interviewed doesnt want to reveal her identity but she told WAPT that she received the threatening note on Xanga on Wednesday.

We started the subpoena process to get the information and as a result, last night, two juveniles were arrested and placed in the detention center for a threat made to harm students, said Slade.

Xanga has blocked the message from the Web site.

Police have not released the names of the junior high students because of their age.

For now, the two teens will remain in the detention center. Both students have been charged with threatening a student to prevent them from going to class and posting a threat to interrupt class activity.

What if something bad does happen?
How are they going to stop it?

Are they having school that day, or is it going to be out? If they are…How are police going to protect the students that are there ? As a parent I’m really worried for my child. :-(
