Man charged with murder after allegedly beating neighbor:
Grand Rapids-A Grand Rapids man is charged with murder after police say he beat another man to death.
Police say Anthony Vronko ran from the scene Monday but on Tuesday a Silent Observer tip lead police to Wyoming where Vronko was picked up during a traffic stop.
Linda Vert sits by the memorial made for her cousin, Jim Whiting. It’s placed at the spot where the 44 year old hit his head Monday night.
Vert pointed behind the memorial and said, �Back there on that piece of cement back there.�
Police say Whiting died of multiple injuries. He’d fallen down after being punched by a guy he’d been drinking with.
23 year old Anthony Vronko was arraigned in court this afternoon.
Neighbors describe him as new to the area. He’d been hanging out at a home on Hovey Street when police say Whiting politely asked him to leave.Capt. Jeffery Hertel said, �The suspect basically attacked the victim. The victim went straight to the ground and was unable to defend himself and the suspect basically stood over the victim and pummeled him.�
Police say Whiting was hit 20 to 30 times. He died at the hospital
Anthony Vronko previously did time in Florida for felony assault. If convicted here he could face life in prison.
