Horrifying ‘paedophile’s paradise’:
WELSH schoolgirls are playing into the hands of on-line perverts by posting explicit photos and intimate details on the internet, Wales on Sunday can reveal.
In an investigation which will shock parents up and down the country, our undercover reporter has exposed how easy it is to obtain information about vulnerable teenagers - and how simple it would be to track them down.
Posing as a 15-year-old schoolboy, our journalist gained access to the so-called ’social networking’ site Bebo, where girls as young as 12 pose in their underwear and leave sexual messages.
Hundreds of boys and girls from across Wales use the site - to meet children from other schools and chat with friends.
Within minutes of registering using a false name, our man was able to view children’s personal pages, which are broken down first by county and then school.
Children use their real names and schools.
Among some of the disturbing details we uncovered were:
n A 12-year-old girl from Llandrindod Wells asking visitors if they would engage in sexual intercourse with her,
n A 13-year-old from a Rhondda Valley Catholic school posing in just a bra,
n A girl, 14, from the same Valleys school posting a picture of her taking down her shorts,
n A 16-year-old girl from a Cardiff high school claiming: “I love to drink, I smoke weed and fags, I love to go out clubbing”,
n And a 14-year-old Carmarthenshire girl wearing a skimpy top and pulling a model-like pose.
Some children even put their mobile phone numbers on the site. People can contact the children anonymously and try to arrange a meeting.
Each school has a separate section listing the pupils who have joined, which is decorated with pictures. One shows a cartoon graphically depicting rape.
Even Welsh parents aren’t checking up on their kids.
