LiveJournal threat in Maine
Job Corps student charged in threats:
A Job Corps student in Maine by the name of Edward Dexter has been arrested for posting threats on his LiveJournal…
BANGOR - A student at the Loring Job Corps Center was charged on Monday in U.S. District Court with threatening his fellow students and staff members at the training center on the former Loring Air Force Base.
If convicted, Edward W. Dexter, 19, of Limestone faces up to five years in federal prison or a fine of up to $250,000.
Dexter was arrested on Friday at the center. He allegedly posted the threats on a school-owned computer.
“I’d love to see a massacre in Job Corps,” Dexter reportedly wrote in a posting dated Aug. 11 on LiveJournal.com, according to court documents. “I’d love for someone to just start shooting at people in the cafe and watch them all run screaming, trying to salvage their meaningless lives.”
Dexter also allegedly wrote that same day that he had “made a hit list.”
“I’ll post it here and go back and update it when need be,” he said in a post on Aug. 11, according to court documents. “I’d love to see these people die. So rude, so ignorant.”
No list was submitted with the documents filed in federal court on Monday. Other postings Dexter allegedly made included biblical quotes and photos of a plane hitting one of the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
I can’t wait to hear his excuses.
I was unable to find his LiveJournal. If anyone knows which one it is please let me know.

What Eddie said in his journal wa blown way out of context. He said that he “wished” for these things to happen, he did not make and threats. I know him personally and I trust him in my home, with my kids and with my life. When freedom of speech becomes an arrestable offense let me know.

When he says he’s made a hit list that is no longer free speech. That’s a threat.

He “allegedly” made a hit list. No evidence was found of a hit list. This whole case has been based on misquotes and what he “allegedly” did.

So let me see his LiveJournal and let me determine for myself if he was misquoted.

No. Because I do not have permission from him to send you the link. That would be a violation of his privacy. All I can tell you is that this case has absolutely no merit, which will be proven, and has already been proven to some degree.

Well until I see evidence to the contrary I have to believe that when he said about the hitlist that “I’ll post it here and go back and update it when need be,” that he was quoted correctly.

The list was supposedly in is journal….strange that they could find his perfectly legal blog about what he “wished” would happen, but then they couldn’t find that? Or when they searched his belongings they couldn’t find one. That doesn’t confuse me because there isn’t one.

Point is, lots of us say and write stupid things we never think anyone will see. How many times have you said you wished someone would die or some harm come to them? I don’t know what was actually said, but I know Eddie. He’s struggling to find happiness in life and everywhere he goes there is just ignorance and stupidity. He’s frustrated and angry. Like I said, I don’t know what was in his Livejournal. If he really made a “hit list” or posted a picture of the towers… that’s messed up. I agree. He should be more careful and senstive. But I also know what his mindset is right now. Most importantly, I know he’s not capable of harm.

I’ve went to Job Corps before. Most of the student body consisted of african americans,so anyone could imagine what it’d feel like being singled out, even by the staff.
But again,it’s wrongful to post any kind of threat, especially on government property.Hopefully others will learn from his screw up,but them learning is a joke to me.
