Colorado teacher impersonated on MySpace
Coach a victim of MySpace fake:
A Grand Junction, Colorado teacher and coach by the name of Billy Johnson was the victim of one of his Fruita Monument students creating a fake MySpace of him. It went well beyond just trying to embarrass the teacher…
The minor also is suspected of sending inappropriate messages to Fruita Monument students through the fake profile, police said.
The fake profile included photos pirated from Johnson�s legitimate MySpace.com profile, and the photos on the fake profile had suggestive captions.
The incidents came to light in July and were reported to parents, School District 51 officials, the Police Department and The Daily Sentinel after several students received inappropriate and, in some cases, threatening messages from the fake MySpace.com account.
To protect the privacy of the suspect�s victims, The Daily Sentinel has agreed not to print the girls� names. The typographical errors are reprinted exactly from the e-mail messages.
One girl, the target of a string of messages from the fake profile, received a photo of Johnson, bare-chested and holding a beverage while sitting in a hot tub, reading:
�Wow, little miss (girl�s name) you have really bloomed into a fine young woman. I have really enjoyed watching you evolve over the years. Well you will be turning 18 any time now and hopefully you will keep ol Billy J in mind. I want you to keep in mind that im a growin man who can pleasure you in every which way. Keep in touch girl. XOXOXO Billy Johnson.�
After she did not respond, a second message followed, reading: �Respond woman, or else,� along with the same photo.
Another girl received a message from the same MySpace.com account. The message read: �Why haven�t you responded (girl�s name), was I to upfront with you. Please respond back. I like your hair it�s very nice like. If you don�t respond ill hunt you down. goooood bye. Billy J�.
After an investigation an unnamed 17-year-old minor was arrested on charges of of felony criminal libel, felony criminal impersonation and misdemeanor computer crime.
