Colo. teen faces criminal libel charge over fake MySpace

Prosecutors have filed felony charges against a 17-year-old boy who allegedly posed as a Fruita Monument High School teacher and sent sexually suggestive messages to other students through a social networking Internet site.
Police spokeswoman Linda Bowman said Wednesday detectives tied the juvenile to the fake MySpace.com profile and the messages after executing two search warrants and interviewing Johnson and other Fruita Monument teens. She said detectives contacted the teenager and his mother, but they declined to be interviewed. Hautzinger said this is the first criminal libel case he has pursued in nearly 20 years as a prosecutor.
