Delgado bail lowered
Reduced Bail For Woman Accused In Tonga Royal Case:
Edith Delgado. the California teen whose reckless driving cost the lives of two members of the Tongan royal family and their driver, has had her bail reduced. But not enough to do her any good…
(BCN) REDWOOD CITY A San Mateo County Superior Court judge Wednesday reduced the bail to $1 million for an 18-year-old East Palo Alto woman accused of vehicular manslaughter in connection with a July 5 car crash on U.S. Highway 101 that killed three people, including two members of the Tongan royal family.
At her arraignment on July 7, Delgados bail was set at $3 million, after which Delgados attorney Randolph Moore filed an appeal seeking to have the bail reduced, saying it was excessive and unconstitutional.
On Friday, a state appeals court in San Francisco agreed to order a reduction in the bail.
In court Wednesday, Moore asked San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Robert Foiles to reduce Delgados bail to $100,000 at most, so that Delgado could return home to her family while she awaits her trial.
Prosecutor Aaron Fitzgerald countered with a request of at least $1 million bail due to the seriousness of the crime, saying that Delgado would pose a threat to the public if released.
Foiles, assenting to concerns about public safety, ruled that Delgados bail would be reduced, but to $1 million, saying, There are no assurances this wont happen again.
Moore consoled the tearful Delgado in court as she was led back into custody. She is terrified right now, he told reporters.
When asked about the bail decision, Moore asked whether bail should be used as punishment. Its proper purpose, he said, is to make sure the defendant shows up in court.
Moore said that the $1 million bail would be well outside of Delgados ability to pay.
Its the equivalent of no bail at all, he said.
I bet that will make sure she shows up in court.

I really hope they do not lower the bail anymore. I have read alot of comments on this race issue and some have posted up hate towards the tongan people. I hope people dont make this a race thing. Its all about doing whats right. She should have no chances at getting bailed. what would happen if she were to bail out of state, then what..:? I think 8yrs is crap, but It would be better then to have her out on bail with chances to flee the country or whatever.
Thanks for the info above Tina!

Seriously,
this girl needs to be kept under a close watch. There’s no need to have cheap bail so she can escape and kill more innocents.
