PA cops bust taggers through MySpace
27 arrested for vandalism in MySpace-aided graffiti bust:
BENSALEM, Pa. - Detectives posing as graffiti artists on the MySpace social networking Web site tagged 27 suspects believed to be responsible for more than 1,500 acts of vandalism.
Undercover police posed as taggers on the Web site during the four-month investigation, befriending vandals who bragged about their work, Bensalem Township police said Wednesday. Some of the alleged vandals even shared photos of their work with the officers on the site.
There were a total 67 victims and 34 different graffiti signatures were used.
The suspects, all but three of them juveniles, face criminal mischief charges that range in severity from felony to summary offenses. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
