‘Fire Marshall Bob’ Robert Eason
Volunteer Firefighter Arrested in Yolo County Fires:
A Guinda volunteer firefighter was arrested Thursday and charged with arson in connection with possibly dozens of area fires dating back two decades, including a wind-driven blaze in Yolo County last month that scorched more than 1,000 acres.
Robert Eric Eason was taken into custody by California Department of Forestry arson investigators Thursday, according to CDF spokeswoman Tina Rose. Eason, 37, was charged with 12 felony counts of arson to forest land for using incenndiary time delay devices to start fires in Yolo County’s Capay Valley and Rumsey Canyon areas earlier this year, Rose said. The most destructive of those fires was a blaze raged across 1,000 acres near Highway 16 on September 21.
In addition, investigators are looking into evidence that Eason, a volunteer with the Capay Fire Protection District since 1988, may be behind as many as 143 fires over the past 18 years, Rose said.
A MySpace page believed to belong to the suspect under the name “Fire Marshal Bob” shows a man believed to be Eason in firefighter gear as well as a video of fires and firefighters in action.
And here we have Eason’s MySpace. I find it kind of ironic and incredibly disrespectful that he has a video that pays tribute to fallen firefighters on his MySpace.
