MySpace cyberbullying leads to suicide
Family Seeking Answers In Teenager’s Death:
MOUNT WASHINGTON, Ky. — A family in Mount Washington, Ky., said they believe there is more to the recent death of their teenage daughter, and are asking police to help in their investigation.
Rachel Neblett was found dead in her home by her parents on Oct. 9, with a gun near her body, police said.
The family said there were other circumstances involved in Rachels death, including on-line bullying.
They do have a note that she wrote, so it’s pretty much a suicide, Rachels father Mark Neblett said.
According to the family, a week before Rachels suicide there was a disturbing correspondence to Rachel by way of the popular Web site MySpace.com.
The family said the note was from a bully who others claim had been harassing Rachel and had threatened to fight the teenager
There’s a lot of talk about it, that they had been harassing her on myspace.com, fellow student John Murray said.
Rachels sister, Patricia, said she took the emails to the principal of Bullitt East High School, and the school agreed to keep an eye on Rachel, a claim corroborated by the school principal.
It’s always heartbreaking to hear stories like this. I wonder if the bully feels any remorse. Somehow I doubt it. My advice to any kids who are reading this is that in the grand scheme of things high school is a very short part of your life. It’s not worth ending your life over. If you’re being bullied please don’t even consider suicide. If you do that then the bullies win. Take it from someone who’s been there, once you make it out of high school you’ll realize how trivial it was.
I hope they find the bully and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
My prayers and condolences are with the Neblett family.
Thanks to Mandy for the link.

We just got rid of our home computer because of the type of occurence happening in our home. Our teenage daughter had a her profile on MySpace.Com & one of the older teenage boys somehow “hacked” into her profile and posted negative, derrogatory statement about her that were all false & she was being threatened by other students because of this.
She was scared to go on the bus or even to school after this incident because other students believed she really wrote those things on her profile when in reality, it was the neighbor boy trying to scare her.
So, we decided to get rid of the computer after that incident. It seems nowadays not many positive come from teenagers being on the compter.

I just want to say is ” I want my little and only sister back.” Who ever that thought that there shit didnt smell they are wrong. I want to know why that person or persons would want to fight her, she did nothing wrong. Why lower your self down to ground level to do anything like that, why sit on your ass and say your going to beat someone down and put them in the morgue. There is something really wrong with you if you walk around saying that. You just need to grow up for real. So who ever reads this sit back and think, if you want to beat someone up think first, why is it worth it. nothing comes out of it but more hate. And if the person or persons that wrote those emails to my sister reads this, I just want you to know this, ( Yours words took my only sister from me. Your words took a daughter away from a mother and father. Your words took a girl away from her friends and family. And your words will get in trouble in the long run, and you will have your time in front of me and her friends, and I hope you think before you open your mouth next time.

they will find this girl and when they do everyone will finally find peace. this kind thing pisses me off. i was one of the kids picked on all threw school and it really needs to stop. its not cool at all and hurts more than the person u are picking on, it also effects their family and friends as well.
my prayer and thoughts go out to the Neblett family and all her friends. I hope everyone realizes the seriousness of this matter and its stops for good.
god bless,

I saw on Wave3.com today where Rachael’s family is trying to push the anti-bullying law. Surely it will not die in the Senate again. This is a serious problem not only in Bullitt Cty., but in the entire world. Rachael’s story I’m sure will make a difference.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of her. As a Bullitt County resident, my heart was very heavy when I heard the news. I am so sorry.
