Cop and fireman resign over racist MySpaces

by Trench on November 3rd, 2006

Clinton officers resign over comments he made on MySpace.com:

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Two Clinton Public Safety officers have resigned after they were questioned about racial comments and inappropriate images on their MySpace.com Web pages.

Scott Bodie, 24, and Chase Cummings, 20, violated the department’s code of conduct by posting the inappropriate material on their sites. Both resigned Thursday, Chief John Thomas said.

Bodie had worked as a police officer for more than a year, while Cummings had worked as a firefighter for around seven months, Thomas said.

On his page Bodie wrote that he was “white and proud of it. WHITE POWER!!!”

He also posted that other groups are proud of their races, “but when we announce our white pride, you call us racist.” Bodie also had sexually explicit images and profanity on his site, but none of the material was criminal in nature, authorities said.

Cummings’ site had similar comments and “characters or cartoons that were not becoming of an officer,” Thomas said.

Couldn’t find one for Cummings but thanks to Liepar at CrimeNe.ws we have Bodie’s MySpace but it’s set to private. Liepar is offering a cookie to anyone who finds a cache of it before it went private.
