New Britain High School MySpace threat
Police make arrest in MySpace threat:
NEW BRITAIN - Police announced that they have made an arrest in the case of a New Britain High School student posting threats of a school shooting on MySpace.
A 16-year-old student was arrested Friday on charges of two counts of second-degree breach of peace.
The student was arrested at 10 a.m. after the police department’s computer forensics unit investigated a report of two postings made by the student on the popular profile Web site MySpace.
His name has been withheld because he is a minor.
The student’s postings stated that a shooting at New Britain High School would occur, but did not specifically name a target, police reported.
The postings were reported Nov. 20 by another student who was registered on the site and saw them.
Police said they believe the student was not serious in his threats and posted the message simply because he wanted to see how far he could go before getting caught.
About that far apparently.
