Nick Govind pleads no contest
San Carlos Internet predator pleads no contest:
I’ve previously posted about Nick Govind here. Long story short is that he was busted for soliciting an underage prostitute on Craigslist which turned out to be a cop
The 29-year-old San Carlos man accused of offering an underage girl money for sex after they met online pleaded no contest Tuesday to felony attempted molestation of a minor in return for no more than a year in jail.
Nilesh Nick Govind posted a message on Craigslist for Carlmont/Notre Dame girls who wanted extra income and began chatting with who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl named Amber. She was actually a Belmont police detective who responded to Govind after a parent alerted them to the Craigslist posting. Govind offered Amber $200 to be his girlfriend for an hour, according to police, and arranged to meet. Belmont police arrested Govind and reported finding $700 cash on him.
Govind changed his plea Tuesday in return for prosecutors not seeking state prison and no more than a year in jail. Govind will also have to register as a sex offender.
He is free from $75,000 bail and returns to court Jan. 30 for sentencing.
