DOPA is DOA

by Trench Reynolds on January 6th, 2007

Deleting Online Predators Act is dead, for now :
Well, there’s one good thing about electing a new set of crooks to Congress. The DOPA Act is dead in the water. For now anyway. For those of you who may not remember the Delete Online Predators Act (DOPA) was designed to ban sites like MySpace and a host of others from any school or library that receives federal funding in the name of protecting the children. Like I said when the legislation was first introduced I don’t think it was really designed to protect children or to stop online predators but it was more of a feel good piece of legislation aimed at computer illiterate soccer moms to help get it’s creator and his associates re-elected.

How’d that work for ya?

Thanks to Hsien for the link.
