Cops catch Christmas vandals using MySpace

by Trench on February 1st, 2007

MySpace helps crack Cove case:
In Williamsburg, Pennsylvania over a dozen homes that were decorated for Christmas had their decorations stolen or vandalized.

Lights were ripped off porches, blowup snowmen and Santas were cut, lighted reindeer were destroyed and ornaments were smashed, Officer in Charge David Flaig said.

How were the little Grinches caught?

Witnesses reported seeing two females early in the morning around decorations scattered in the road and gave Flaig the vehicle description.

With that information, Flaig conducted a search on MySpace using the names of young females in the borough who were at least of driving age that fit the witness’s descriptions.

He found a Web page containing pictures of two females standing in front of one of the missing decorations.

When Flaig questioned the females, they said they came across the decoration in the middle of the street, thought it was funny and took their picture with it.

The females told Flaig who they thought did the damage. The suspects were brought in for questioning, which led Flaig to five juveniles who admitted their guilt.

Which just goes to show you that MySpace can be used for good just as much as it can be used for evil.
