craigslist prostitution bust in Medford

by Trench on February 9th, 2007

Prostitution sting nets 5 ‘johns’:
Police in Medford, Oregon recently used craigslist to arrest 5 johns in a prostitution sting. They took out an “escort” ad on craigslist. Seven men showed up to the pre-determined location. 5 were arrested and 2 got cold feet and left.

Arrested were Jose Gonzalo Beteta, 62, Jeffrey Ralph Blum, 50, Robert Benjamin Schumacher, 50, Jeremiah Natos Shipley, 36, and Jesse F. Williamson, 30.

I also like what Medford police Deputy Chief Tim George said about prostitution and why police crack down on this so-called victimless crime…

“We will continue to discourage this kind of activity,” George said. “Prostitution is not good for a city, as it brings with it other crimes such as drugs, rape and robbery.”

I can’t believe that we have sexual predators like this bum on the loose in the childcare industry. I understand that Mr. Blum routinely visits 30 or 40 childcare centers every year. I had heard things about him in the past, this only confirms them. I hope the police have the good sense and courage to require him to let the childcare centers know that he visits of his background. It’s disgusting to have a 50 year old married man in the business he is in on the loose.

I don’t get it. Are you also in the software business? do you want to “punish” a man who has not been to trial yet? You folks have more time to rant about non issues than anyone. How did you get a direct link between soliciting an adult prostitute and chlid care centers? You can’t be serious about this man? At least I like him now because I know he is not gay like you old bitties! No wonder you don’t have money for your library!!! your police waste it on trash like this..

    Non Issues

I’ve seen MORE then one forum on regarding this crap. wasting the taxpayers money? entrapment? come on! if this were my neighborhood i would want my tax dollars to go to letting the people in my town know it’s NOT ok. Look at nightline with all the sick men looking for little girls to have sex with that they meet online? really where does it stop? make examples of them and let everybody know that just because the internet allows people to see it online, it doesnt make it ok to do. what an embarrassment to all of the wives/familys…keep up the good work police!

Stop all of your belly aching. If a man wants to pay some money for a good time, who cares? It is a victimless crime. A crime that by the way has been around forever. I tell you this. If I can pay 50 bucks and get some quick no strings attached sex….. Im with it! Instead of going to dinner, then a movie, and all that mindless chatter.. Lets be Americans. Pay me and Ill hook you up! I say, make it legal.. I know Im a customer!

How much of those things are present in Nevada where prostitution is legal?

I have two comments. Let’s finish up with Pervy Miller. Let’s be Americans? and he’ll hook me up? Pervy is a part of the “we want it now” generation that makes me ashamed. Dont use those words, and the word American in the same sentence because I dont want to be associated with a creep like you. You might take that 50 bux and actually go on a date rather then spend the 50 and picking up a std which is cheaper?

Noah, when i’ve had a chance to flip the tube to Cops in Vegas…it looks like a pretty high crime rate to me. Tourism brings it and tourism also brings high crime.

    hrmm just some thoughts.

F*%K the police. Make em work for anything they get. You give em nothin they get nothing.

Anybody arrested on this kind of BS, or that other crap they put on TV (for the ratings only of course) on MSNBC, with the guys who are into kids & go looking for them, should ZIP IT UP, and I mean their MOUTHS, the moment they are Mirand-ized. I was born in Italy and I know this. Why is so many “all-American” guys seem to never realize it , like on the MSNBC sting shows when the guys (some who are like ex-Marine and teachers and etc) are pouring their hearts out to the “sympathetic” detectives AFTER having ben Mirandized.

“…anything you say, can and will be used against you… right to an attorney…” Thus, 10 words should be enough once they cuff you and read the rights, “I got nothing to say, I want a lawyer now.”
