Attempted MySpace kidnapping in Florida

by Trench Reynolds on February 19th, 2007

Man Allegedly Kidnaps Girl Met On MySpace:
A very short and vague article. So here it is.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A young girl’s call to her mother may have been the key move that saved her life.

Police in Tallahassee said that a 29-year-old man kidnapped a 13-year-old girl he met on the Web site MySpace, WESH 2 News reported.

“I thought I was going to get a phone call to ID her body and I believe this man did have bad intentions on doing something, knowing she was just 13 years old,” the girl’s mother said.

According to authorities, the man told police he was trying to prevent the teen from committing suicide, but the teen said he wanted her to have sex with him.

Police said the man drove her to a police station when he realized she had called her mother from his home.

For all I know the suspect could have been sincere, but I doubt it. If you are a 29-year-old man and you’re trying to prevent a teen from suicide call her parents, or the authorities. Do not pick the girl up in your car. If you’re 29 you shouldn’t be talking to 13-year-old girls on MySpace anyway unless you’re related. And since this is coming out of Tallahassee even if you are related I wouldn’t suggest it.
