Infinite redefined

by Trench on March 8th, 2007

18 yrs. for killer tracked on Web:
21-year-old Infinite Roy (I wish I was making that up) was sentenced to 18 years in the shooting death Dominique Body.

What makes this interesting is that Roy was a fugitive before being sentenced. The way that police were able to capture him was through his MySpace.

Chalifoux said investigators tracked down Roy by messages he sent through the Web site MySpace. After getting subpoenas, investigators were able to home in on the house where he was staying by learning the name and address associated with the computer.

“He was communicating with his friends back home,” the prosecutor said. “When you sign on, [authorities] can find out where you sign on. We can locate where the computer was that he used.”

Roy was pulled over while in a car on May 19 last year in Albermarle, N.C., about 50 miles northeast of Charlotte, N.C., by a team of Suffolk County homicide detectives, U.S. marshals from the New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force and Albermarle city police officers.

Using MySpace to keep in touch with your buddies back home is not exactly low profile. Then again criminals aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed anyway.

I was unable to find a MySoace for Roy.

Thanks to Stephen for the link.
