Pedophile safe haven?
Utah mom warns of pedophiles lurking on MySpace:
A Utah mother has discovered what I’ve known for years, that there are pedophile groups on social networking sites.
A Utah mother checking her MySpace Internet account recently says she made a shocking discovery - an unsolicited posting offering a so-called “safe haven” for pedophiles.
Chellie Ehrhart told KUTV that anyone who surfs the web could stumble onto, or even be solicited by the website. And, while the site is disturbing, it apparently is not illegal.
“I had this post that talks about a website that’s pretty much a safe haven for pedophiles,” Ehrhart says.
Shutting down the pedophile site apparently is not an option right now; it’s located in Amsterdam, outside the reach of U.S. law.
Outisde of the aforementioned website pedophiles hold court on Xanga and especially LiveJournal. Neither of which, to my knowledge, do anything to remove these groups citing freedom of speech. I’m all for freedom of speech but Xanga and LiveJournal are not government entities and could remove these groups if they wanted but they choose not to.

Well aside from being a big supporter of free speach, I think there’s other good reasons to let them stay on live journal and myspace - At least there, we can watch them. We know what they’re thinking, what kind of propaganda they’re posting - what tactics they’re using to rationalize their philosophies and methods. You pull them off myspace and live journal, and they just find smaller darker holes in the web to hide in. Plus, having them in such prominent places makes it much easier to bring awareness to the community that these kind of people really do exist.
That said - They should all rot in hell.

Actually, LiveJournal just went through all of their groups and pages and deleted hundreds of inappropriate sites due to complaints. At least they’re finally doing something.
