Illinois school receives MySpace threat

by Trench on April 20th, 2007

Unit 5: MySpace threat has been handled:
I sense a recurring theme here.

A student from Normal Community High School in Illinois is in hot water after posting a threat against the school on MySpace.

“Evidence gathered to date suggests that all presently known threats or alleged threats to student or staff safety at NCHS are attributable to one individual,” John Pye, assistant superintendent of operations and human resources for Unit 5, said Thursday.

The district is taking applicable disciplinary actions, he said, adding “Law enforcement is pursing any possible criminal charges.”

These kids are picking the wrong time to make these threats. Not that there’s really a good time.

This happens anytime there is a huge national tragedy. It’s quite normal..especially in teenagers to incorporate these very traumatic themes when lashing out.

The second reason there seems to be an epidemic of this is that the media is looking for it.

If not for Virginia Tech, these same kids would be lashing out with other stupid threats in their communities…only difference is, we wouldn’t hear about it.

I am an alumn of Normal Community, and happen to have encountered with the kid in the past (my boyfriend is still there, and knows a lot about the situation)and he has made a LOT of threats before. I, personally, have been threatened to be stabbed. He is not doing any of it to get attention or whatnot. He thinks he is a badass!
