MySpace killer gets life in prison:
I originally posted about John Gaumer here. Gaumer was convicted in the brutal rape and murder of Josie Brown. Allow me to quote from the original post.
Poised and polite throughout the lengthy recorded interview, Gaumer described to the detectives how he groped Brown’s naked body and rammed a stick into her genitals.
Late one night two weeks later, Gaumer said in the recording, he returned to the ravine and found her body how he’d left it, with her nose and teeth cut out, resting in a stream.
Also Gaumer removed her jawbone and fingertips so she couldn’t be identified. He claims that he raped and beat Brown after flying into a “blind rage” after changing her mind about going home with Gaumer.
A Maryland jury sentenced him to life in prison with no possibility for parole.
If anybody was tailor made for the death penalty it’s a scumbag like Gaumer.

I completely agree. Why do we have the death penalty if it wasn’t for scumbags like him? According to the news, the only time he expressed emotion during the trial was when they announced the guilty verdict and during sentencing. He only expressed remorse for himself and has no compassion for the victim. He is worse than Jeffrey Dahmer in my eyes because he at least was a sociopath and was void of all feeling. Gaumer’s the worst of the worst. I hope he gets gang-banged in prison and suffers everyday of his life.

I grew up with Josie and her family! and hearing that he did not get the death penalty basically because she was not one of a “service position” ie: police officer. She was a mother and this man is crazy! there are so many statements out there of how when he was rejected he would go into rage. If this guy ever gets out who is to say he won’t do it again! I totally agree that he should have some crazy stuff shoved in his genitals!! let him “drop the soap”

While I agree that John Gaumer deserves to die, it might be a good thing that he didn’t get the death penalty. The state of Maryland will probably never execute anyone again, so even if he had received a death sentence it would be meaningless. A life sentence means that he’ll be in the general prison population, and a white college kid like Gaumer is going to have a VERY rough time there. On death row he would be safe from other inmates, and would probably never end up actually being executed.

I met John when I was 14. He was an asshole rapist then and is still one today. He has no value for human life, especially female life. He was also a racist. I feel sorry for his family. To be that messed up could only be caused by mental problems.

He was a rapist when you where 14, then why werent you at the trial telling your story of your first hand knowledge of John Gaumer. (Just as i thought)
Another person that did not know of him but only in passing that wanted to tell there story on the internet. I was at the trial and I did not see you! All the other so called witnesses said the same thing to the police after then tracked them down from internet blogs like this one and they did the same thing as you are now…. what well I only knew of him really, but I heard stories.
There is alot of things that the jury did not get to hear because of the judge… here is just a few
1. prostitution
2. aggravated battery (other online guy that she met)
3. Robbery of guy with bat after help from her so called roommates after he brought her home
4. 3 warrants for her arrest along with several different aka indentifications
5. Lost of child to parents because of prostitution , jail time, and drug abuse.
Thrown out was that he has sex with her after death, autopsy report stated that there was no penetration of her body nor any seaman of any kind on skin or clothing which the police stated that he told them that he did do this.
Met this girl on the internet, drove to get her and she is already talking to boyfriend on phone, 35 recorded phone calls on the date with John Gaumer, dinner, clubs and drinking. Josie mets with drug dealer in club and starts to act funny. Orders him to take her home, John is unusually tipsy but drives and then finds himself fighting in the car with Josie. Orders him to take her home and going to get boyfriends to bet him up, kicks her out of the car and she yells that she knows where he lives and he is going to be taken care of, comes back to get her to drop her off near home, fight continues, he does the most stupid thing in the world and that is not to walk away but kill a woman.
Never more than a traffic ticket and in jail for the rest of his life…toxic screening of john gaumer to see if he was drugged with the same drugs that where in her system was lost by police and never found…..
I know this family and I know this kid. I even was there to testify for him as a character witness and it was a sad day for all.

I wasn’t there because I didn’t know about it. I moved out of state. I heard about it the day after he was sentenced to life. Killing a woman… isn’t just making a stupid mistake.
I have nothing against his family. I only feel remorse for them.

Limpetshark, are you saying these mitigating circumstances make it a fair decision not to execute him?
You’re right, he did the “most stupid thing.” Young men do such stupid things. When the stupid thing is murder, they have to be removed from society completely. It’s just not permitted.
Clearly he is very disturbed. People who aren’t disturbed just can’t tear the nose off of the corpse of the person they just murdered. Beyond murdering her, most of the repugnant stuff he did to her was after he’d slain her. Good arguments for not executing him.
Just his bad luck to hook up with such a troubled and exasperating young woman? We all run into those at some point, especially those of us who troll the internet for dates. Bound to happen when you don’t know the people you hook up with. Thank goodness we don’t all turn back after we’ve gotten them of our hands and bludgeon them to death with whatever’s handy.
Was she trouble? Sounds like it. Many might agree that getting her cell phone thrown and then being dumped on the highway was no less than she deserved if she was being such a creature. Teach her not to pick up strange guys and conduct dramas with them. But “serves her right” does not extend to what he returned to do to her.

Not misunderstood, he was just stupid. You do understand that her body was examined and there was no penetration of any foreign objects in her body… that is not from me, that is from the hospital doctors.
He made it up or they made him say it. They also said that he raped her but the doctors proved that to be false too, but because he said it in the tape the judge stated that it must be true. Physical Science stated that this is not possible and there was no evidence of it.
John was stupid and he did a terrible thing, but soon everyone will hear the whole story and not just the one that people either make up on here or read in the papers.

For those of you saying “he made it up” or was coerced, did you see his video taped interview with detectives? He was clearly a very disturbed person, and he never showed one sign of remorse throughout the entire interview.
He states that he put the tip of his penis inside her, but couldn’t get erect. This is considered rape, and no, there wouldn’t be physical evidence on her body from that especially after she had been laying in the woods for two months.
He then said that he put a small stick in her vagina and anus, and groped her. He told the detectives that “he couldn’t get it up” and was frustrated, and that he wanted to degrade her because she made him feel “like a piece of shit”, so he wanted to make her feel the same way.
When asked if there was anything he wanted to talk to the police about anything he had not been questioned about, he described trying to remove identifying marks by returning to the scene, cutting off the fingertips and nose, and removing her lower jaw.
Some of you watch to many TV shows.

I knew this “being” personally and thank God that it wasn’t me or one of my friends that this happened to. He’s not misunderstood, he’s a horrible person who preyed on any woman he could get in contact with. His most famous “lure” was “i’m comfy to lay on,” which I’ve read many other women say that knew him personally. My heart goes out to Josie, her family, and especially her daughter.

Doesn’t matter if he raped her or not, he still murdered her. He did it because in some sense of the way he felt rejected couldn’t deal with that and went crazy and killed her. If you look at the article link posted above I posted numerous comments stating my connection to John. Reason why I did not step forward, talk to the police, or go to trail is because I was pregnant with my son from my husband. John is just a sick disturbed individual that I don’t think any of you REALLY knew. HE MURDERED AND MUTILATED SOMEONE! Yes it is “stupid” but normal people don’t do things like that. Even stupid murders don’t do that. He was out for vengeance because he “felt like a piece of shit”. He had no remorse for what he did and my comments in that article CLEARLY state why. Basically people did not know the whole truth about John and how interacted with females from the internet.
