Friends and Myspace Shed Light on Accused Teen Shooter:
17-year-old Dexter Brown is accused of shooting two people and killing one.
Police say Dexter Brown spent more than an hour looking at motorcycles in Kawasaki of Memphis in Bartlett Tuesday then they say he shot two employees and took off down highway 70. Brown’s car overturned in a ditch a short time later. He died in that crash.
And as usual when someone dies on MySpace, be it criminal or not, droves of people come out with comments of support. I just find most of the comments on Brown’s MySpace ludicrous. Not the usual “I miss you” comments but the comments like “I know you’re in gangsta heaven” and the like. In case you missed the most basic tenets of heaven unrepentant murderers don’t get to go there.

The only thing I really noticed, other than children acting stupid, is that not 1 of the people commenting said anything like “if you had told me that you were thinking of doing something like this, I’d have stopped you.” No, we love you’s. No prayers for the injured. No prayers for those he murdered. It’s truly a shame that we *as a society* are raising cold blooded killers, and instead of other children being APPALLED, now this kid is a HERO to the other gangster wanna bees. If I was his friend, or his family, I’d be embarassed about what I see on his myspace page. It’s a true testimony, not only about what this kid did, but how depraved we as a society have become.

Please if you are going to write comments about your “friend” Dexter, use proper English. There are other people outside of Memphis reading this and they already think YOU not ME are a bunch of IDIOTS who have no fathers because it is cool to NOT be in a relationship but to have a FRIEND-BOY! First, let me say. I never said what level of education I have. I never said what career I am in. You have no idea who I have “sat” down with and talked to. You don’t know. I am not hiding behind the internet. This happened to be the outlet I found. Not to sure it would be of any benefit to go to “D-Birds” funeral to voice my opinion. The main problem is that these issues become a revolving circle. The white people say the same things, the black people continue to say the same things. There are “reasons” for everything, but they are always stereotypical. After I wrote my comment the other night, (I am at work), I went outside to take a breather, and I was thinking…. I really wish there could be a forum put together. Where intelligent people could come together, not blow up, and just talk. A place where you could have things written down before hand to keep the conversation on the right track, but be able to voice your opinions, your situation, your life, your fears, your successes. When I wrote, I wanted anyone that read this, to feel the anger, confusion, sterotypical ideology that white people feel living in the south. I can only speak for myself and my experiences. But I promise you, as you feel your “black” experience is common among your peers, I feel my “white” experience is what most of US feel and have been to scared to put into words for fear of GUNS coming out. So I would welcome your invitation. I think I will write Wendi C. Thomas and see if we can’t get a forum going. I’ll get Starbucks to donate coffee, we’ll meet at a community center, and we will set aside 2 hours to confront our fears, experiences, and stereotypes on both sides as young America. I’m not sure how old you are. I was born in the 70’s which doesn’t make me old enough to have been through MLK JR. or segregation, which is why MY experience growing up in MCS system in the 80’s/90’s would appeal to a lot of people’s opinions! First of all, you young fuckers need to realize the only reason why ya’ll make this a black and white thing, is because that is all you know. Listen, this is all so crazy. Dexter is gone,the salesman is gone, so drop it…..EVERYONE! No one is perfect but the Lord Almighty; therefore, no one can point a finger. Haven’t we all done something that we are not particularly proud of???? Ok, that was not a very nice comment about him burning in hell. Dexter was sweet, quiet, mannerable, an honor student, Mr. West, Mr. Sophomore…..must i continue? Everyone wants to talk bad about him but if you did not know him i’d expect you to. I would’ve never thought of him as a murderer, but you never know what goes on in a person’s head. I am truely sorry for BOTH families who lost a loved one. No one deserves to be strippened of their life, but God has a set day for ALL OF US. This is a very sad tragedy. I am a relative of Dexter’s, and we the family of Dexter Brown are extremely sorry for what has happened. We make no excuses for this tragedy; we don’t know what Dexter was thinking when he committed this heinous crime. We don’t understand it, and we are trying to make sense of this. We never will understand it. We wish that we could have talked him out of it and seeked help for him, but it happened so fast.
We are extremely sorry that Dexter has taken the life of another human being as well as his own - and injured others. Our hearts are heavy. We continue to pray for the family of Glenn Page and ask that you also pray for Glenn’s family as well as our family.
We make no excuses for this incident….only apologies.
You never know…..one day it may be your family. We never thought it would be us.

I feel perfectly comfortable “judging” Dexter. He committed cold-blooded murder. He killed one person and could have killed the other. The victims have family and friends who will be affected by this for the rest of their lives. Dexter’s family has also been hurt by his selfish actions and I can’t imagine his mother’s pain.
I don’t care if he was black, white, whatever. Everyone needs to stop making excuses for criminals. There’s no evidence that his life was in danger and nothing short of self-defense or protecting the life of another could excuse hurting
another person.
I don’t know if Dexter’s in hell. But I do know that what he did was wrong. If you can’t see that then you’re another Dexter in the making.

I live in fayette county and the young man Mr. Brown attended the same high shool as my son.I just think that this was a sad incident and people were hurt and killed including young Mr. Brown instead of making it racial i think that each of these families deserve respect for their losses. People should talk to their children and be involved in their lives and try to help before tragedy strikes again. Our young people need guidance and i do not think the young man that killed should not have been condemed by any human. This affects all people no certain races.
I give my sympathy to the families that suffered these losses.

MissMerlyn, Jesus warns against judging someone else for their sin when you yourself are sinning even worse. You have no heaven or hell to put Dexter in, so you have no right to “judge” him nor be concerned as to where he is.
What Dexter did was wrong - no excuses. We can’t change what has happened. All we can do is try to heal.
Be careful while you “continue to feel comfortable “judging” Dexter” because that perfect child in your family or someone dear to you could be the next killer. It could be you. You don’t know what every member of your family is capable of doing. So don’t get too comfortable in your “judging.” No one is perfect……but Jesus.

You have your beliefs and I have mine. Which means that I have EVERY RIGHT to judge Dexter or anyone else that I choose. And you have the right to disagree. That’s one of the things that makes this country great.
No one is perfect, but there’s a big difference between being an imperfect human being and being a killer. No amount of justification will change that.

Unfortunately we can see by the “friends” of the murderer here that lack of education plays a tremendous role in there behavior, they live in a different world than many of us, where violence is as prevalent as breathing. The question is, are we paying to high a price to maintain the white male power structure?
Or just maybe P.C. has gotten so out of control that we fear tougher laws to protect us from this element? Maybe with our voices and our votes we can elect those that don’t pander for the sake of maintaining power, but put those in office that will hold the underclass to a higher standard and maybe to even up lift them through education which is the only way out of poverty and violence.

Minors are capable of purchasing motor vehicles, so there is no reason to think something untoward was happening when DB arranged to buy a motorcycle.
