CopSpace IX: The Lawsuit
John Michael Montgomery Sued by Fired Policeman:
Just when I thought this story was over fired Lexington, Kentucky police officer Joshua Cromer is back in the headlines. He’s now filing a lawsuit against country artist John Michael Montgomery.
Cromer had arrested Montgomery back in February of 2006 on a DUI charge. Cromer was fired after posting inappropriate comments on his MySpace about the arrest of Montgomery.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper, Joshua Cromer filed a slander lawsuit alleging the singer lied to the police department’s internal affairs unit.
Cromer says the singer made several false allegations after his case was settled, including a claim that he stole Montgomery’s cowboy hat and that Montgomery was targeted for arrest because he is a celebrity.
After what Cromer posted on his MySpace I wouldn’t doubt Montgomery’s allegations.
