Dr. Cornbleet’s killer captured

by Trench on August 15th, 2007

Police charge suspect in Michigan Avenue doctor’s stabbing:
Back in December I posted about the murder of Dr. David Cornbleet and how his family set up a MySpace in hopes of capturing his killer. That MySpace has paid off as the killer has been found. However it’s not over yet.

The suspect is of French descent and has surrendered to French authorities in St. Martin and confessed to the murder after obtaining French citizenship. St. Martin is an island in the Carribean that is partly controlled by France. In typical France fashion the French government will not extradite the suspect unless the death penalty is taken off the table. See the case of Ira Einhorn for a precedent.

To make matters worse according to this article the suspect, Hans Peterson, killed Dr. Cornbleet because some acne medication he prescribed made the suspect impotent.

The fact that he allegedly killed a man with a loving family over something as petty as that would make me seek the death penalty.

Would that the USA had an iron-clad policy against executions, wrongful extradition and torture. A little dose of rule of law would help too. I’m enough of a francophone to know that many francophiles are “cons”and francphobes are often “plus cons”. I’m not a French national, though. One would hope that “typical French fashion” includes respect for the law! In that case. je fais partie de la nation francaise!

Thank you for your support and spreading the word about the case. As the fight for extradition continues we have set up a new site dedicated to the fight for justice. Please visit http://www.drcornbleet.com, participate in our polls, read the messages and leave you comments. Thanks again FDDC
