MySpace Video Leads To Arrest For Manatee Abuse:
I can honestly say this is a new one on me. Florida never ceases to astonish me.
19-year-old Karl Kuhn and 20-year-old Charles Podesta Jr. were arrested for abusing a manatee which is an endangered speices. They allegedly baited and hooked the poor animal. Now I’m no PeTA type but anyone who has ever been to Florida even for just one day knows that the manatees are protected by law. And I thinik they’re like rabbits that if you look at them the wrong way they keel over. That last part I could be mistaken about. Anyway you’d think two guys from Florida who work at Bass Pro Shops would know better. Obviously not since they posted a video of it on MySpace.

I saw the myspace video. They hooked the manatee with a pocket fisherman using crabgrass as bait and the manatee, stung by the hook took off, taking all of the fishing line with it.
Hopefully they were using a hook that deteriorates quickly in salt water and the manatee won’t be harmed long term.
I hope they get fired from Bass Pro shops-

If you guys think thats bad you should’ve seen the unedited video, where they tried to hop on the manatees back and club it unconscious. I heard from a reliable source in the black market that they had buyers from Panama and Chad, Affrica ready to bid over electrical bank accounts for the poor harmless animal. If you ask me.. the manatee is less of an animal than these two.

first of all manatees are about to be taken off the endangered species list. these kids were scewed over nasty(they would have been better off hooking a baby)…they both had no intention on hurting the manatee, it was a joke and was hooked by accident. watch the whole video and you can tell they’re joking. they didn’t use lettuce, they used grass and called it lettuce. the news blew it way out of proportion. these kids we’re fired, sent to jail, on the news and can still face jail time with a fine. it’s pathetic that everyone believes what they here on the news. these two kids are good ppl, and its messed up that they faced jail time when ppl who smoke pot and drink and drive dont

i think people who believe everything that they hear on the news are immature & need to learn that all the news does is lie about what happened..they said that they tried to killed the manatee. it was a joke that went bad and im more than positive that they learned from it! i just found if funny how when they were in jail they couldnt even get bail when people who had robbed houses and were selling drugs were getting out..

i think its funny how people are so protective against this manatee and wants the 2 boys to get time for it are more pathetic than anyone for beliving the news!! everyone should know the news takes thing way out of porportion and the newspapers too..one paper said they were poking the manatee, how in the hell do you poke a damn manatee?? i think people need to get their story straight before talking a bunch of shit :) thank you now have a nice day…

Kids at school were going off about this thing and the media made these guys out to be serial killers or something! All I know is that yes its wrong to harass an endangered species, but it should not have precedence in federal court over all the ridiculous crime in SOUTH FLORIDA!!! I mean were talkin bout Rick Ross “hustlin” type shit. People gettin murdered every day, rapists on the loose, drug deals all over the place, illegal immigrants floodin in without any resistance! I just feel that priorities have been misplaced! What they did may be wrong, but the punishment was far to severe for the misdemeanor! And btw in reference to “chuck norris’s” statment- yes it is correct that west indian manatees are soon to be removed from the endangered species list. So whoop de friggin do!

stacy lockness you are such an idiot hope you think your cool by saying all that retarted shit. you have no idea what your talking about learn your facts before you say all of those offensive and harlmul things about people. you dont know them and you dont know that situation. you werent there in the courtroom and you werent there when their lawyers begged them to go with a plea deal when they wouldve never been sentenced in the first place. these are two kids that have been fishing their entire lives and they totally knew that what people accused them was is in fact wrong. you can lie all you want but people like his friends and family know what really happened because we know who they really are… im sorry if had heard ur facts from someone else but they are wrong. the media blew it so out of proportion for their own ratings. its sad if you want to know the true story id be more than happy to educate you.
