MySpace may take on Australian predators
MySpace willing to back sex predators operation:
MySpace says they’re willing to do what they’ve done begrudgingly in The States. That is to compare Australia’s national sex offender registry with MySpace’s user database.
The national director for safety and security at MySpace, Rod Nockles, is set to stand by the website’s safety measures at the CrimeStoppers National Conference in Adelaide today.
“We’ve consulted with law enforcement agencies right across this country and at the federal level and they have all supported our calls for the creation of a database,” he said.
“But I don’t want to convey the wrong impression to people. I mean we would maintain that this is actually a much safer place on the internet than other places may be.”
It sounds like the Australian government is serious about apprehending sexual predators and not just using the information for grandstanding.
