Michigan Thrill Killer

by Trench Reynolds on November 16th, 2007

Over at CrimeNe.ws I posted about Michigan thrill killers Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 17, and Alexander James Letkemann, 18. They killed, decapitated, and burned an acquaintance of their’s, 26-year-old Daniel Sorenson.

Thanks to a commenter by the name of JS we have Letkemann’s MySpace. JS was quick to point out all the comments in support of Letkemann. It’s not like he got busted for possession or shoplifting. He’s accused of cutting a man’s head off and trying to burn the body.

Kids have some really messed up priorities.

    Fuck you, asshole.

Alex was a friend of mine and was not that type of person. HIS FAMILY SUPPORTS HIM BECAUSE HE IS NOT CAPABLE OF DOING THIS. If my brother/cousin, etc. killed someone, I’d still support them.

    Read the remarks again, jackass.

    Dear Trench,
You are a prick. The case has not even gone to trial yet and you are already condemning Alex AND his friends. If you pulled your head out of your ass for long enough to see the updated news reports you would see that it is possible that Alex was forced to comply with the other kid’s demands. It is this shred of hope that keeps his friends and family behind him.

The trial started today. I’m sure that everybody feels that it’s a horrible tragedy what happened.
I feel sympathy for Alex but what I don’t understand is if JP was doing the killing and forced Alex to help him, didn’t common sense kick in when he heard the victims scream for help, saw the pain, the barbaric act, the smell of blood, the crazy look in the killers eyes, the cracking of the bones and just the sight of the scene….I checked out Alex myspace and he doesn’t appear to be a follower. He had a life, great taste in music but most of all wonderful friends. He could have not only run but also stopped the murder. It seems that he knew what he was doing. We will find out soon enough. To his family: I PRAY FOR YOU. -Anetka

I believe that if Alex didn’t meet J.P he would be hanging out with his friends and playing music right now instead of figuring out how to survive in prison for the next 25 years. He was aware of the murder and he could have prevented it. He will pay for it with his adult life.
Some people are married for 20+years, have kids and memories, no criminal record and still kill the spouse for life insurance. You just don’t know who is who and what they are capable of.

Orlewicz guilty, thank god and the jury!! I’m certain he’ll make a nice wife for some guy prison which he deserves for the rest of his miserable life!! But, I sincerely hope that the state can do something more for Alex. It took so much courage for him to tell the truth about what really happened in that garage. I’m praying for you Alex!!

    i support JP
    & alex

    he panicked.
if you were PLANNING on killing someone..
you wouldn’t kill them with a paring knife.

and i think JP has his own problems and was just pushed to far…

For someone who feared for his life, Orlewicz was fairly calm about the gruesome actions he took against Sorenson, Moran said.

“Where was his emotion when he testified?” Moran asked. “Where was his emotion when he testified that he had to kill Mr. Sorensen? When he had to cut off his head? He testified like he was ordering a pizza. A typical day. That’s him. That’s cold.”

I understand that you wanna stick by your friends, but at that age you know right from wrong. They wanted to do this and they did it and now like the rest of the people in the world, they will pay the price. Now their normal lives will be tooken like they took Dan’s. Obvisously the jury felt the same that’s why they got sentenced the way they did. It’s over. GET OVER IT. They admitted it, they’re guilty.
