Man sentenced for false imprisonment

by Trench Reynolds on December 8th, 2007

Jail, probation in MySpace imprisonment case:
29-year-old Rami George Tawasha of South San Francisco was sentenced for the false imprisonment of a woman that he met on MySpace. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail and three years probation. He accepted a plea in order to avoid a trial for charges of forced oral copulation, sexual penetration, sexual battery and false imprisonment.

According to prosecutors, in January 2006 Tawasha met the 23-year-old victim on MySpace, a popular social networking Internet site. They allegedly agreed to meet at the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo and eventually returned to her home.

After the couple initially kissed, Tawasha allegedly forced himself on the woman over her protests and drove her back to the shopping center.

Since the charges were originally forced oral copulation, sexual penetration, and sexual battery he was smart for taking the plea but stupid for what he did to that woman.

How does one ALLOW someone to plead down, from the original charges, all the way to false imprisonment??

Here we go again. I don’t know why you say ‘probably’ unless you think ALL crimes of sexual violence are committed by Arabs.

By his name, if he is Arab, then I’m guessing his Christian Arab (yes, those do exist). Oh wait, this is where it doesn’t matter if he was Muslim because you (or some other person) will fall back on something about all Arab men behaving this way. What does it matter if she IS white? Is this any more of an important crime because she is? What if she’s black? or Latina or Asian? Any less of an impact there? None.

It’s an awful, despicable crime however you paint it, just don’t paint it as inevitable because of someone’s supposed race, ethnicity or religion.
