Penn State students mock VT victims on Facebook
PSU students mock VT tragedy on Facebook:
So now that we’re past the whole ‘Megan Had It Coming’ situation let’s move on to the latest travesty on the vast travestial landscape that is the internet.
For the sake of argument let’s say you’re a couple of students at Penn State and you’re trying to come up with an idea for a Halloween costume. Then you get the great idea of dressing as victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy complete with Virginia Tech sweatshirts with “bullet holes” in them. Not satisfied with that you get the even more brilliant idea to post the pictures on Facebook.
Do you…
A. Apologize profusely for your dumbassedness…Ah hell let’s go right to C. Misplaced indignation.
Unfortunately, it does seem in an interview with one of the costumed students that there is little remorse being felt for his actions, as WSLS captured:
“This is a group of college students who now think it’s trendy to be upset about their friends being killed,” one of the two Penn State students who wore the costume said. “I don’t know what they teach people in Virginia Tech, but at Penn State we don’t learn to threaten people with murder to teach them that murdering is wrong.”
I’m guessing they received death threats. What did they expect?
It’s assclowns like this that make me believe in God because I’d like to believe that there’s a special place in hell for people like this. Then satan can get his ‘lulz’.

The prank is actually a positive American message that says
“Psychos like the VT gunman do not intimidate us. As Americans we accept that with freedom occasionally tragedy comes. We laugh at your efforts to drag our spirits down. We mock your attempts to make us victims by extension. And we mock those at VT who fail to meet this truly American spirit and have been cowed by one gunman’s attempt to cast a pall over their lives. The dead are buried though not yet forgotten - but it is time to celebrate that life goes on despite the events.”

markme, Are you freakin’ kidding me?! You do not go around mocking tragedies, how would you feel if you saw someone dressed as a Jew in a concentration camp for halloween?! If you had any brain in your head at all you would know that VT has NOT been cowed, we have come together as a community more than we were before which most would think is impossible. Virginia Tech is one of the most closeknit groups in the country, period. There is absolutely no excuse for these PSU students’ actions and the fact that they won’t suck it up and apologize for offending many, just shows their cowardice.

the first amendment allows people to say what they want, without following your idea of good taste. im sure everyone does things that others despise.
suck it up and deal with it, people dont have to apologize for something they dont feel sorry about. are we so weak as a society that we can’t even handle free speech??? should we all live our lives so that others always feel comfortable???
stfu and live with it…you will die someday.

This is so rediculously humiliating! If this fellow and his few friends are so “infamous” in State College, P.A., it is probably because he chooses to behave in such an overtly obnoxious and outrageous manner that it would be difficult ‘not’ to notice him.
He truly is an embarrassment and disgrace to the gay population. (As a side remark, if he and his small little group of friends are so “infamous” why is it that only “six” people attended that pathetic party?) This is nothing more than an individual needing so much recognition that he is willing to “push the envelope” to accomplish what ever it takes to do it. Sadly, he chooses to offend humanity in order to achieve just that. I have a very deep feeling that this poor soul is going to spend the rest of his days wishing that not only should he have been more thoughtful and selective in the choosing of his 2007 Halloween costume (and the implications of that choice) but that he never would have opened his mouth to vomit out 20 minutes of insensitive and inconsiderate garbage that is more than likely going to ruin the rest of his life. I must say that his phone interview was so absolutely so scary that I would think that this young man could be capable of taking his insecurities out on students at P.S.U. He should be offered free intensive psychotherapy and monitored very, very, carefully. This obviously clueless young man needs some major psychological intervention. The phone interview he agreed to take part in truly reveals a desperate unconscious cry for help. Someone from mental health at P.S.U. please reach out to him!

Free speech. My kid has heard racist things said. It was a chance to teach my values, teach about the destructive dangers of ignorance, brainwashing vs. learning through personal inquiry. There’s ugliness in the world. Free speech keeps it in the open where we can address it.
I heard a joke a kid told this summer, something about Hitler being the first Jewish baker. That kid got slammed with dissapproval from all around. No humor in the Holocaust. Speaking freely then being rejected, it’s all part of the process.
Desensitization is a serious problem today. South Park says bullet holes and such are funny, right? Some people can watch and create this generation’s South Park-like humor and call it an exploration of humanity’s dark side. But some get twisted by celebrating and laughing it up to humanity’s dark side.
Groups of people shun all sorts of thoughts and words based on their beliefs. It’s not such a bad thing for these college kids to do something ugly and receive a reaction like they did. It sends a message about what our society does and does not accept, no matter what South Park taught them.

Free Speech or not the rationalization of this whole occurrence is rediculously rediculous! What the hell is the whole point anyway? Yes, people are offended and rightfully so. Those who are not offended obviously view this thing in a very different way. The “What Would Jesus Do” quote applies here? I think the rationalization used to send a message to our societies murderer’s is really quite absurd. In the 60’s our society would not tolerate this kind of irresponsibility. Your child’s ass would be expelled from school let alone sent away to reform school. These kinds of college kids today are just plain immature and stupid which we could thank their stupid parents for raising their insensitive and irresponsible asses. They get away with way too much and they are praised for it. Some are glorified. These students should never be able to enter into college let attend it. Should when allow these adolescent-like young adults get away with such moronic behavior? In my day we got suspended for chewing gum in class. Today you can chew gum, wear skates, dress in clothing that show off body parts, don pink spiked hair, piercings, disrespect your teachers and get away with it. I say throw these kids the hell out and teach them a lesson. As for the parents…. you should have not bore children. Why does society have to keep pushing the limits? Is nothing sacred anymore? And we wonder why our world is in the state it is(?) What message are we sending to the world by always allowing these kids to push the limits. I guess this world is nothing but a free for all world and everyone just fend for your self if you feel somthing needs fending. Obviously, freedom keeps extending until there is no limit which includes killing because you feel like it.

As a member of the Penn State community, I have to say that the fact that whatever bastard wrote that quote name-dropped our university in his defense is absolutely grotesque. I assure you that kids like that are not commonplace here at PSU. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, at the Buckeyes vs. Lions football game this season, a vast majority of our OWN fans were wearing VT sweatshirts in support of those at VT affected by the tragedy. All I ask is that if you wish to draw a generalized impression of our student body here at PSU, keep that type of support in mind and not the mindless actions of a small group of our students.
