No that’s not some form of sci-fi weapon. It’s this guy from Corvallis, Oregon. This 26-year-old male was arrested for threatening to ‘pull a Columbine’ on his community college. I posted about it at my blog about school violence TheTrenchcoat Chronicles. At that post our good friend Pat from Belchspeak was kind enough to provide us with Cannon’s MySpace profile.

I feel this young man needs some serious help.. The poor woman who turned him in is scared for her life if and when Orion is released from jail. Luckily something was done to stop him because if not we would be dealing with a tragedy rather then just a he said she said case. This young woman was very brave and I applaud her for doing what she did!

I actually know Cannon. He wasn’t going to shoot any schools up he is just an idiot. Putting him in jail is probably the worst thing they can do because he will come out a hardened criminal. He has had prolonged psychological issues and needs intensive theropy more then anything.

I also know orion and yes, he is an idiot; yes, he needs to see a psychologist. But he would not go shoot up some school, he’s just fried. Locking him up is not going to do anyone any good.

His psychiatrist hasn’t seen him in 2 years. If you were a psychiatrist and told the authorities to not take him serious, and then he actually did something you would be discredited and possibly held liable. So his old psychiatrist means nothing in this case.

My name is Orion Cannon, obviously not the one from Oregon. It’s lame he mucked up my name cause now when i google search myself all i get is 26 year old plans to shoot up school. It’s like good thing my name is associated with that.

Is there any update on this guys status?
Im an old friend of his who hasnt heard from him in years and just came across this. The whole case against him seems extremely flimsy and i imagine the charges must have been dropped by now, but who the hell knows. Bieng sent to jail for years for making a (bad) joke?
If anyone has any information about his current status and/or a way to contact him (the last email adress i had for him is invalid and i havent seem him around on the irc chat channel he used to frequent), please reply to this thread.
