Drugs and guns do not make for good parenting

by Trench on February 25th, 2008

lschuchard.jpgPolice: Child Shows Investigators How To Use Marijuana:
25-year-old Lisa Schuchard of Omaha, Nebraska was arrested two weeks ago on charges of felony child abuse.

It seems that her and her boyfriend, Christopher Gladden, (after you see his MySpace you won’t be surprised) liked to smoke a lot of dope and leave shotguns laying around her two kids ages 4 and 2.

To make matters worse when police were there on a child welfare check the 4-year-old showed the friendly officers how to smoke dope.

Not shockingly both Schuchard and Gladden both admitted to their daily marijuana regimen.

And who says pot doesn’t hurt anybody. And for those of you burnouts who are going to say “Well alcohol is legal” I say to you if the kid showed cops how to make a Manhattan I’d still have them locked up. Although those two don’t seem sophisticated enough for Manhattans. They seem more like the grain alcohol and PBR crowd.

Thanks to hot tipper Angie for the links.

Weed and bad parenting? In the same place? Well, you know what they say about how correlation and causation are the same thing. The pot definitely caused the bad parenting. Or the bad parenting caused the pot use. Definitely one of those.

I never said one caused the other but I definitely think their love of pot was greater than the love for her children.

I don’t know Lisa Shuchard, but I do know Chris Gladden. He may not make the best choices in life, but I do not believe he would intentionally beat a child or offer her pot. Now, I can say that I do velieve he would smoke in front of a child. With all of his faults, he is still a good person. We have all made mistakes in life, and everyone needs a second chance.
