Lori Drew’s attorney requests medical records
Attorney asks for medical records of dead girl:
The defense attorney for Lori Drew has requested the medical records of Megan Meier stating that it was a change in psychiatric medication that caused her to commit suicide.
Megan’s mom states that Megan was diagnosed with depression but was improving before Drew’s hoax. She also said that the defense can go jump in a lake before she gives up Megan’s medical records.
Take it from someone with experience in the medical field. Due to HIPAA laws it may take an act of Congress or God before the records are made available to prosecutors.

If the HIPAA laws deal with cause of death, the personal health information may need to be released, if not to the defense, to an authorized third party to moderate the question of the cause of death.
If Megan’s mom refuses to disclose the PHI, the defense could move to have the case dismissed.

Lori knows she is going down.
She was so confident when she was blog’n her “Megan Had It Coming” website and gloating about how it was her all along.
Of course that was after she found out she face state charges. Never one to show just how stupid she is, didn’t think about federal charges.
So why not harass this family some more? What else does Lori have to lose?

Trick,
The Megan Had it Coming site was setup by hoaxters to laugh at the hysteria it generated. Trench covered this fact previously on this blog.
